Beetroot Thoran


Ingredients

  1. Beetroot                   -1 Big
  2. Mustard                   -1 Teaspoon
  3. Oil                           -1 Tablespoon
  4. Coconut Scrappings -1/2 Cup
  5. Salt                          -Pinch
  6. Green chilies             -2 
  7. Curry leaves            - 1 Handfull
  8. Turmeric Powder    -a pinch
  9. Water                     -1/2 a cup
Chop the beetroot into small cubes.Just grind the shallots,shredded coconut and Green chilies (only one round).Heat the oil and add mustard.After the popping of mustard add beetroot.After that add water,turmeric powder and salt.Close the lid. After about 7 minutes open the lid and if there is water cook it without closing the lid.When all the water is gone add the grind ed mixture.Saute it for about a minute.You can also grate beetroot,but when grating dont add so much of water.Just a sprinkle is enough.You are adding the turmeric powder because it kills the bacteria if there in veggies.I love beetroot thoran because it changes the color of my rice(let me tell you a secret i hate it because while chopping it turns my fingers and chopping board pink color)
